The Fleet & Family Support Center (FFSC) will host multiple free career-readiness classes in March. Classes are available to all with base access.

- March 3, 10 a.m.-noon.: Effective Resumes
This interactive training will review the basic types of resumes, which types are appropriate for different job seekers and what information should be included on each. It will also discuss the essential elements of cover letters to use in conjunction with the resume and how to market a resume effectively in the current job market.
- March 4, 2-3 p.m.: Job Fair Readiness - What to Expect
- March 5, 10-11:30 a.m.: Interview Skills
This interactive training session discusses the interview process, including traditional and behavioral interviewing questions, as well as methods for responding to these questions using the STAR (situation, task, action, result) method. Resources will be discussed.
- March 5, 1:30-2:30 p.m.: Job Fair Readiness - Resume Review
- March 6, 10-11:30 a.m.: Job Search Strategies
This training focuses on the most effective methods for job searching including networking, job search engines, job fairs, social media and employment agencies. During this session, learners will identify their network, construct a personal elevator speech, write two search SMART goals and learn how to improve their professional online presence.
- March 10, 10 a.m.-noon: Navigating Federal Employment
This training will focus on the federal employment process. It observes the process of creating a USAJobs profile as well as searching and applying for jobs in the federal government. It reviews unique hiring paths and special hiring authorities such as veterans and military spouse preferences, which offer a less-competitive hiring process. It also discusses the essential elements of an effective federal resume and provides an in-depth look at job vacancy announcements, assessments and job requirements.

This class is a combination of education and resources about education and career for military spouses. It provides education about resumes, job search-career exploration tools, education to support employment and exclusive military spouse programs such as the Spouse Education and Career Opportunities program, which provides education and career guidance to military spouses worldwide and offers comprehensive resources and tools related to career exploration, education, training and licensing, employment readiness and career connections.
